My wife wanted an Odyssey because of the space and its safety rating. Thus we were trading in a car with less than four thousand miles. We went to several Honda dealerships and we were completely devastated at how a car worth 28,000 new would only receive trade in offers of 18,000.00 towards an Odyssey, which meant they wanted to gain six thousand dollars on the resale of the HRV, they took a $25,000 Odyssey, and bumped up by three thousand. This would of meant that we effectively were offered almost half of the HRV value. One dealership admitted that that was the situation. I had nothing but contempt for their greed.

Then as a lark I looked at one more dealership, Johnny’s Auto, and found a van exactly like the 28k one. So i called and spoke with a very knowledgeable salesperson by the name of Brad. Brad and I started to negotiate by text and came to a tentative agreement. However they still had not indicated how the trade would work. I thought okay we’ll drive the distance to Johnny’s and see how they would try to take advantage of us. Surprise!

When we arrived Brad was there as promised, he had the van out for our inspection. It was exactly as described. Now the moment of truth, or untruth at the other dealers. After we reviewed the van and they the HRV, they offered us six thousand more for the car. When it was all said and done we were able to get the van for a mere 3,500.00 difference, rather than the almost 12,000.00 difference quoted by the Honda dealers.

In brief, Johnny’s Auto made a deal where they could earn a little without gouging us. Brad and his support staff were great. Their expertise was abundant and their deal was more than fair. They spent two hours with us, never rushing us, and were supremely cordial. I would highly recommend them. I would give them ten stars if I could. **********
